Chocolate Shot Cups

Make your own chocolate shot cups

Items Needed:

Shot cup chocolate mold  www.citychocolates.com
1 bag chocolate wafers
1 basic kitchen knife
1 pair of scissors

Step 1:
Cut the shot cups out of the chocolate mold individually. This will make the process easier.

Step 2:
Melt a portion of the chocolate in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring the chocolate occasionally. Once the chocolate is smooth and creamy, fill the chocolate cups individually. With the cup full, tap it onto a firm surface to ensure that the chocolate is filling the entire cup.

Step 3: Tip the shot cup filled with chocolate over the melted bowl of chocolate, allowing the chocolate to pour out of the cup. Use a basic kitchen knife to tap the chocolate out of the cup. This will create a thin layer of chocolate on the inside of the cup. Make sure the chocolate remaining inside the cup isn't too thin because this will determine the sturdiness of the cup.

Step 4: Once you've created a hollow chocolate shot cup, use the straight edge of the knife to scrape the excess chocolate off the top.

Step 5: With all the cups finished, place them in the refrigerator on a flat surface for about 30 minutes, or until the cups feel cold and hard.

Step 6: Remove the cups from the refrigerator once they feel secure enough to pop out of the plastic chocolate mold. Individually flip the cups one by one, using your thumbs to carefully push on the flat surface of the cup. This will separate the chocolate from the chocolate mold.

Step 7: Choose one of your favorite holiday drinks to fill each of the chocolate shot cups. A cold beverage will keep your chocolate shot cups from melting. Feel free to top it off with some delicious whipped cream or something decorative, such as cinnamon, confetti, or candy cane shavings.

Enjoy!!

Creating Chocolate Cups

Step 1
Cut the chocolate mold so that the shapes are individual, making it easier to work with the mold.

Step 2
Melt a portion of the chocolate in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring the chocolate occasionally.

Step 3
Once the chocolate is smooth and creamy, fill the chocolate cups individually. With the cup full, tap it onto a firm surface to ensure that the chocolate is filling the entire cup.

Step 4
Tip the chocolate cup filled with chocolate over the melted bowl of chocolate, allowing the chocolate to pour out of the cup. Use a basic kitchen knife to tap the chocolate out of the cup. This will create a thin layer of chocolate on the inside of the cup. Make sure the chocolate remaining inside the cup isn't too thin because this will determine the sturdiness of the cup.

Step 5
Once you've created a hollow chocolate cup, use the straight edge of the knife to scrape the excess chocolate off the top.

Step 6
Once all cups have been filled and are hollow with chocolate, place them on a flat surface in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, or until the chocolate shapes are cold and firm.

Step 7
After removing the chocolate cups from the refrigerator, use your thumbs on the straight edge to carefully push the chocolate out of the plastic mold.

Tada! You now have different shaped chocolate cups, ready for some mousse filling.

Create Mousse Filling

Ingredients Needed:

1 Cup of Cream
2 oz. chocolate chopped
3 Tbs Powdered Sugar
1 Tbs Professional Meringue Powder http://www.citychocolates.com
1/4 tsp Vanilla http://www.citychocolates.com

Step 1
Melt the 2 oz. of high quality chocolate in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate is smooth and creamy. Set aside.

 Step 2
At high speed mix together the cream, powdered sugar, meringue powder, and vanilla until soft peeks appear. Make sure not to over-beat. Once mixed together, the cream will then become lumpy and butter-like.
Step 3
Using a spatula pour melted chocolate into cream mixture and stir until uniform.

Step 4
Set in fridge to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 5
Once the mousse is solid, place it into the chocolate cups using a piping bag to create a swirly affect. Then add toppings, such as fruit, confetti, or something artsy.
